How to Add a Searchable Directory to Your Wix Website

Add a searchable, filterable directory to any Wix page using an HTML embed. No Velo coding required.

Wix doesn't include a built-in directory feature. Here's how to add a searchable, filterable directory to your Wix site using a simple HTML embed.

Before You Start

You'll need an EmbedDirectory account to create and embed a searchable directory on your Wix site. No Velo coding required, just copy-paste.

Step 1: Set Up Your Directory

Your directory gets built inside EmbedDirectory's dashboard, then embedded into Wix. If you haven't already:

Step 2: Copy the Embed Snippet

Head to Embed in your dashboard and grab the code snippet. It's a small script tag — no iframes.

Step 3: Add to Your Wix Site

Wix Editor

  1. Open the Wix Editor on the page where you want your directory
  2. Click the + (Add Elements) button in the left panel
  3. Select Embed Code > Embed HTML
  4. Click Enter Code
  5. Select the Code tab
  6. Paste your embed code
  7. Click Update
  8. Resize the HTML element to fit your page width
  9. Click Publish

Wix Studio

  1. Open Wix Studio on the target page
  2. Click Add > Embed > HTML embed
  3. Paste your embed code
  4. Adjust the element size and position
  5. Click Publish
Tip

Set the HTML embed element to full width for the best experience. The directory widget is responsive and will adapt to the available space.

Step 4: Accept Submissions (Optional)

Want visitors to suggest new listings? Connect a form builder (JotForm, Typeform, or Tally) and every response lands in your Submissions queue for review. You approve what goes live.
