How to Add a Category Filter to Your Directory

Add a dropdown filter so visitors can filter your directory listings by category, type, or any tag-based field.

A dropdown filter lets visitors select a category to filter listings, like "Restaurant," "Retail," or "Healthcare." It pulls values from a tags field on your listings.

How to Add a Dropdown Filter

  1. Go to Widget SettingsSearch & Filters
  2. Click AddDropdown Filter
  3. Select which tags field to filter by
  4. Set placeholder text (e.g., "Filter by category...")
  5. Save your settings
Tip

You need at least one tags field on your listings before you can add a dropdown filter. The filter's options come from the tag values across your listings.

Configuration Options

Placeholder text: the default text shown when nothing is selected.

Multi-select: allow visitors to select multiple values at once (e.g., show "Coffee" AND "Bakery" listings). Off by default (single-select).

Show count: display a count badge showing how many listings match each option.

Sorting by Category

You can also sort listings by tag priority — go to Widget Settings → Sort and select a tags field. Drag tag values into your preferred order so certain categories appear first (e.g., Featured listings on top).
